Helping "friends" out

You know, I'm quite sick of trying to help people and getting bitched at for doing so. If you want my help, don't get pissed off at me when I offer it. Better still, don't ask me at all if you're going to have an attitude about it. It seems like no good deed goes unpunished on the Internet.

Ever notice that, on days that you do absolutely nothing, you often end up more tired than if you'd worked your ass off all day? I did less than one hour's worth of work and yet I'm more tired now than I was after driving nine hours straight yesterday.

Advertising on blogs

In case anyone hasn't noticed yet, I'm running ads on my truckin' around (trucking work-related) blog. So far, it's not amounted to a whole lot of money; at the rate I'm going, it'll be about 2015 before I actually earn enough from those ads to get Google to pay anything out at all. However, since it's my account, I don't even see the ads and I have no idea how annoying (or benign) they actually are. I'm fairly sure I've specified text ads only and configured them to be unobtrusive as possible, but I can't verify it. :)

Also, would anyone be horribly offended or irritated if I started running similar things on this blog and/or added them to the RSS feeds? Obviously, my porn blog isn't going to run them since it's way outside the terms of service for AdSense (and, frankly, pushes the limits for Blogger itself), but this one is tame enough for me to at least contemplate it.

Please leave your comments so I can get an opinion on the subject. Or just use the star ratings: one star if you hate the idea, five if you love it, and in-between ratings for in-between opinions.

Edit @ 11 PM: I spent some time testing out my settings on both this and my work blog and set a few things up. There's now one link unit near the top of the page, an ad at the bottom of the right sidebar, and a search box above my posts. The last one actually is useful and I can actually use that to allow people to search my smut if they're so inclined. ;)

Sprint Overbilling

I've bitched plenty of times about the crappy tech support, lousy cell phone reception, and shady business practices of Sprint before, but when I checked my bill tonight, I got yet another surprise. I'd been given a $20 credit to compensate me for receiving defective hardware and having to wait three hours on hold just to get told that it's something I'll have to go into a store to get fixed. Obviously, being a truck driver, this is impossible, but they somehow thought that $20 was adequate compensation for having a phone with bluetooth that crashes randomly. They didn't even tell me they I'd been given a credit the first time; I only found out on a subsequent call for another problem the following week.

The problem is this: I was then charged for an extra pro-rated month of service. They double-billed me for part of my data plan, which ended up negating the credit added another $2 to my bill. I tried calling their customer service center, only to find out that I have to call during "regular business hours" to get someone to answer the phone. At least they have limited hours on the weekend and I'll have the time to call them tomorrow before they charge me twice for service that barely works anyway. If they still bill me for anything over $141.85, I'm going to dispute the entire charge with Mastercard and cross-post this to the Consumerist, if not drop a full-blown executive e-mail carpet bomb.

FA is down again...

So anyone who guessed "one week" in the poll I posted is correct. According to their forum, anyway, the site went up on August 6 and had to first be taken offline on August 12. It's been going down more frequently and for longer periods of time as well.

Might I take this opportunity to remind everyone of far better sites like Furry Art Pile or Yiffstar? ;)

Sexual Preference

This is probably a surprise to nobody reading this journal, but I am a submissive and a bottom. Yeah, I know, shocking, isn't it? But what amazes me is how hard it is for other people to understand that. Mounting someone, with few exceptions, doesn't do much for me. If I'm rather emotionally close to the person (and if you even have to ask, no, I'm not referring to you) then I can do it and enjoy it, but it's one of the few things that I need that sort of attachment to do. Yet, somehow, I have at least two people whining at me that I won't mount them the moment the opportunity presents itself. Even dismissing the fact that I much prefer being a bottom, whining at me is about the fastest way to turn me off. Seriously, it's right up there with babyfur scat threads on fchan.

The truly amazing part is, even after I explain this, people are still fucking whining. Is the mere concept of a guy who doesn't want to put his dick up your ass truly that hard for people to comprehend? Am I speaking in too many multisyllabic words for these ass-clowns? Do these people somehow think they're the only furs in the entire fandom who want a hot dick up their ass to shoot an endless fountain of spooge into their intestines? What the fuck makes people think that whining and complaining is the best way to get what they want? It's all I can do to stop from screaming FUCK YOU when I keep getting whined at, but I'm really tired of being polite to people who simply need to get bitchslapped with a horse dick.

So, ranting aside, how the hell do I get these people to stop hounding me without being so rude that it only creates more drama? This is seriously starting to make me dread going to MFM; I don't want to have to spend the con explaining to people that I would prefer to keep my penis and their anus separated by several feet. I really want to just be able to enjoy myself at the con, sexually and otherwise.

MFM Upcoming

Barring any disasters with work, I should be at MFM over Labor Day weekend. I've requested the time off, arranged for a hotel room, paid for registration, and keep all my convention-going stuff with me in the truck. I'm rather looking forward to it, particularly with as busy as work has been keeping me; it's not often that I have to take a day off because I legally can't work any more in a week. I'm thinking of volunteering to help with a few things, if not suggesting a few panels outright. Specifically, I have two ideas: a warm-up game of Texas Hold 'Em that could serve as a tutorial for new players before the charity tournament and a time in the LAN room for open-source and freeware games so people without a massive PC budget can still enjoy some gaming. I think there might already be such a card game set up, but I strongly doubt there's anything like that in the computer room; I'll have to check on the website sometime before the con.

Taking a couple days off from the web

After pretty much confirming my hopeless addiction to the web, I'm going to try and not get online for the next two or three days unless I have some extra time to kill while waiting on something. In other words, I'm not going to be online before or after work. About the only exception will be checking my e-mail via cell phone. I just need to try and break this bad habit.

Wal-Mart Lines

I'm in line at Wal Mart. Apparently, so is half of Dallas. They have four registers open and a line six deep at each one. Why can't they have a self checkout line open? I could have been out of here by now.
